What comes to your mind when you are asked to believe? God? Faith? Yourself? Your motto? Your dreams? Whatever comes to your mind is a reason enough to believe in it.
Before you take the first step to achieve something, you have a fear of losing, fear of not being good enough to achieve, a nervousness feeling that hinders you all the way. It though happens to everyone, even the strongest people with steady minds get this feeling but what makes them different than others is that they remain headstrong and all because they believe in themselves, they believe in what they are trying will be fruitful in one way or another. They have faith in their abilities even if they are not as good but they believe they can do good with them. If only you believe you are good, you will be good.
As it’s said, God is as you believe him to be. You are as you believe yourself to be, there is so much into you that you are capable of but we believe deep down that it’s impossible so we don’t even bother trying. But just imagine, what if we give it a try? How will things turn out if we believe we can do it? And we actually end up doing it. Don’t you want to unlock that door and try it?
We have retained ourselves from doing what we want by the fear of not being able to do it, this is self-doubt. We doubt our abilities more than we believe. We can achieve just about so much and open doors to so many possibilities if only we believe in ourselves. If you believe you can, you surely will!
The problem to our self-doubt is our society, how we are brought up and following the footsteps of the society. But what if, just imagine what if we follow the footsteps of a stranger? Or no one at all? We’ll learn thing we never knew before. We let go of this possibility because we doubt ourselves of not doing good enough, which makes us believe that we are less worthy, instead when we should be believing that we are worth it and capable of it.
We have been conditioned since our birth to believe to aim whatever is our reach, but what isn’t we are told we can never get it. But have you ever tried getting it? Have you ever believed you can get it? No. Because we don’t believe in ourselves and our abilities to achieve greatness or something that seems impossible.
Let me remind you of a childhood story to make it more clearer. You all might have heard about the story of an Elephant with a rope. I just want to take you down memory lane to recall all the inspiring stories we have been told in our childhood which we tend to forget as we grew older. We need these stories now more than ever to rebuild our strength and faith in ourselves.
The story starts off by a man walking past a circus where the elephants camps are installed, he sees that the elephants in the camp are not chained or caged but tied only by a rope to their leg. He wonders why the elephants do not escape when they can easily break the rope with their strength.
It confused him to see them only tied by a rope when they can easily escape but they weren’t doing so. He was curious to know why they behaved that way when they can easily escape, so he asked a trainer nearby as to why the elephants are not breaking the ropes with their mighty strength and escape the camp when they can.
The trainer replied, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The was the reason why the elephants were not breaking out when they could easily do so because they had adopted the belief that they were not capable of breaking it like when they were young, even though they had grown up now gained strength to easily break the rope and escape but the mere self-doubt held them back. That is what happens to us, humans, we hold back ourselves from doing things because we believe they are not possible and we because we are not capable of doing them.
The moral of the story is to always believe in yourself. There will be many people and situations in life that
will bring you down, and hold you back from achieving what you want to achieve but you have to believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities. If you believe you can be successful, nothing can stop you from achieving that goal. It may seem impossible for others but you do not have to listen to others and their negativity. You have to let positivity surround you to aim high for your goal and work hard to achieve it. But the key word to all this is “believe”. You have to believe in yourself first, and then shoot for the moon.
There are four ways to your achievement. First, you have to believe in yourself that you can do the impossible, regardless of what others say about you. Second, you have to visualize it, think of what you really want to achieve and how it’d be like once you do achieve it. If it’s what you truly want, go for it. Third, be consistent, if you want something, keep trying for it, aim on one goal at a time to achieve it. Fourth, last but not the least is to take action towards your aim. Nothing is achieved by just sitting around and daydreaming. Do not let self-doubt or fear stop you from taking an action towards your goals. Greatness only happens when you take action, so believe in yourself and go ahead!
